Director / Writer / Cinematographer
Dan Bronfeld is an Israeli film director based in Los Angeles working in both fiction narratives and documentaries, involving the nuance of politics, terror, violence, identity and masculinity. His humanistic approach delivers an understanding for our human choices even in the most dire of situations or extreme conditions.
Bronfeld served as an Israeli Defense Force spokesperson photographer, creating images at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This work did not end in his military service, extending into his documentary photography and exploring the seams of Israeli multicultural society.
Bronfeld earned a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Media at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. He is the recipient of production grants and awards from the Jerusalem Film and TV fund, The Israeli Film Fund Grant and The Haifa Film Festival Young Documentarians Accelerator. Bronfeld’s work has been widely exhibited in venues such as Full Frame, AFI Docs, Doc-Aviv The Jerusalem International Film Festival, The Guangzhou Documentary film festival, the Vancuver Film festival and many others.
